Biography

Dr. Valerie earned his medical degree at Brown University Medical School, Providence, Rhode Island. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the State University of New York, Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn.

He completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Valerie is board certified in adult and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Meet the Doctor

(upbeat music) My name is Evans Valerie, I am a pediatric surgeon here. I previously worked at the um, at LSU, the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, and I worked there for thirteen years. I have an old friend who used to work with me in New Orleans that asked me to come and look at the job here and I came, he wasn’t even here, I came, I interviewed and I just love the hospital organization that I was introduced to and I liked the area. I moved from Jamaica when I was a young teenager and we moved to New York, in Brooklyn, and that’s where my mom and sister are right now. But I’ve done, I did some of my training in Toronto, I went to college in Rhode Island, but the longest I've ever lived in one place was actually in Louisiana and that was for thirteen years. So I do a lot of sporty things, I play tennis. I’m learning how to fish. I have a kayak. Just stuff outside. I eat...well in Louisiana I ate out a lot so I’m learning how to do that here and I listen to a lot of music. (upbeat music)

All the staff was beyond polite and profesional, doctor explained the pros and cons of the procedure my baby will have (tongue tied) and the procedure it self was done very fast and in a very professional way, highly recommended
