Keeping kids close to home: A collaboration with Johns Hopkins

Golisano Children’s Hospital has announced a new pediatric neurosurgery program, a collaboration with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, designed to further fulfill that mission and expand healthcare services in Southwest Florida. The partnership with Johns Hopkins strengthens this program by providing access to extended resources.

The Pediatric Neurosurgery Program at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida will help diagnose and treat children with diseases of the brain, spine and nerves.

The new program will allow children who have neurological conditions which require surgery to receive that high level of care at Golisano Children’s Hospital instead of traveling outside of the area to larger cities, like Miami or St. Petersburg. Children who come to Golisano for neurological treatment will still get their initial and continuing care in Fort Myers.

There are some conditions that, due to equipment limitations or other considerations, your child will have to travel to All Children’s Hospital for their surgery. However you can expect to have provider continuity and thanks to the wonders of technology, your child’s care will be the product of a network of providers stretching all without leaving the area.

• Minimally invasive brain and spine surgery, and complex spine surgery.
