Riverwalk - Lee Health Imaging and Radiology

Welcome to our Riverwalk facility. We’re going to show you what you can expect when you arrive for an open MRI. The front reception desk will greet you, help complete your registration paperwork and check you in for the MRI. The technologist will call you and verify your Date of birth, full name & the body part being scanned is correct. The technologist will have you change in to a gown and have you fill out a metal questionnaire. The tech will ensure that you remove all jewelry and any metal objects. You are able to lock all of your belongings in a locker. For an Open MRI there are two halves. An upper and a lower. The sides are wide open. Depending on the exam, you will either enter the magnet head first or feet first. We will ensure you're comfortable with things like pillows and blankets. We will provide headphones so you can listen to your choice of music. There is also a call button, if you need to get ahold of the technologist for any reason. You will also have an opportunity to bring a person into the room with you just to make you feel more comfortable. Once you're on the table, the table will raise up and put you between both magnets. Most exams will last between minutes. Once the exam is complete, the technologist will go into the room and bring you out. You will then be led to the dressing room to change. The test results will be on MyChart as soon as the radiologist dictates the exam. Your doctor will have the results between 24-48 hours, to go over them with you.
